About the institution
The Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma, established in 1993, places technological innovation and the value of the individual at the core of its mission. It operates through three Departmental Faculties, with the Faculty of Engineering playing a critical role in advancing cybersecurity and digital transformation, driving innovation in these fields through its innovative Engineering of Smart Systems curriculum. Supporting this mission is the UCBM Academy, which fosters post-graduate education and lifelong learning, creating vital synergies between academia, industry, and society to address global challenges and meet evolving market demands.
About the program
The project, led by Professor Roberto Setola in collaboration with support from Google.org and Virtual Routes, will train 75 students in cybersecurity between 2025 and 2027. It follows the European Cybersecurity Skills Framework (ECSF) developed by ENISA, covering both technical (network and software security) and managerial/legal aspects (regulatory compliance, risk analysis). Practical activities will support 100 local communities in improving their cybersecurity posture. A focus on Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) reserves 40% of spots for women and 10% for international students, with opportunities for volunteering at the Rebibbia Women’s Prison.
