‘First VPN’ actors sanctioned by US over ransomware attacks

The administrator of ‘First VPN’, a VPN service used to conceal ransomware and other criminal acts online, has been sanctioned by the US Office of Foreign Assets Control, along with another individual. The entity of ‘First VPN’ Service (1VPNS), as well as its administrator Dmytro Rashevskyi (Rashevskyi) have been sanctioned. Additionally, Yegeniy Vladimirovich Silayev (Silayev) has been sanctioned for allegedly selling ‘cryptors,’ which are tools used to make malware harder to detect. The purpose of sanctions is to prevent anyone in the US from completing sanctions with the designees.
