Virtual Routes launches Monthly Cyber & Tech Digest for non-profits and community organizations

Across Europe, millions of people rely on organizations that are vital to society — what Virtual Routes refers to as Critical Community Infrastructure (CCI). These include local nonprofits, community services, volunteer networks, smaller infrastructure operators, advocacy groups, and other entities that help communities function every day.

Their public visibility, the sensitive information they handle, and their role in connecting people can make them attractive targets for cyber threats, scams, disinformation, ransomware, and digital disruption, particularly as many operate with limited cybersecurity resources and support.

The Cybersecurity Services Centre (CSSC), an initiative within Virtual Routes, was created to support these organizations through accessible cybersecurity services, tailored guidance, training, and research.

The Cyber & Tech Digest is part of this effort. On Substack, each monthly edition highlights recent cybersecurity developments, governance and policy updates, emerging threats, and practical measures relevant to Critical Community Infrastructure across Europe.

What to expect in each issue:

  • Threat Activity: phishing campaigns, scams, malware, ransomware, and relevant cybersecurity incidents
  • Governance & Policy: AI governance, cyber policy, privacy, research, and organizational developments
  • Security Updates: practical guidance, tools, platform protections, and security improvements
  • Practical recommendations and operational takeaways

Following each edition, the CSSC also hosts a recurring Cyber Community Q&A session designed to be accessible and operationally focused where participants will have the opportunity to ask questions, exchange insights with peers and subject-matter experts, and discuss issues relevant to the broader nonprofit and community sector.

The CSSC Cyber & Tech Digest is the first initiative launched through our Substack space. Future publications, discussions, research, and community-focused projects developed by Virtual Routes and the CSSC will also be shared here as part of broader efforts to support and strengthen Critical Community Infrastructure across Europe.
