As Executive Support and Research Officer at Virtual Routes, you will work closely with the organization’s leadership to support both strategic and day-to-day activities. This is a one-year position designed for a recent graduate or early-career professional interested in digital technology, cybersecurity, and global affairs. The role combines executive support—such as managing schedules, preparing briefings, and coordinating meetings—with opportunities to contribute to ongoing research projects on topics including ransomware, military cyber operations, and AI-cybersecurity. It offers a unique vantage point into how high-level research and policy initiatives are developed and executed.

What We Offer

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the (Co-)Director’s agenda, including meetings, travel, and events
  • Support the preparation of presentations, talks, and public appearances
  • Conduct background research and draft briefings on cybersecurity and emerging technology topics
  • Assist in organizing internal and external meetings, workshops, and conferences
  • Contribute to ongoing research projects, including data collection, literature review, and writing support
  • Liaise with partners and stakeholders across academia, government, and industry
  • Maintain smooth administrative workflows, ensuring priorities are met and deadlines kept

What We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Some experience in research, coordination, or policy environments is an advantage but not required.
  • Education: A relevant degree in political science, international relations, computer science, or a related field.
  • Attributes: Strong organizational and writing skills, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to work independently and reliably in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities; proficiency with standard office tools (Google Workspace, Microsoft Office); familiarity with note-taking and research software is a plus
  • Domain Knowledge: Strong interest in cybersecurity, digital technologies, or international affairs.
