A 33-year-old alleged member of the Ryuk ransomware gang was arrested in Kyiv (April 2025) and extradited to the U.S. in June. Ukrainian officials say the suspect was an “initial access broker” for Ryuk, breaking into companies’ networks to help execute attacks that extorted over $100 million worldwide. During the arrest, authorities seized ~$600k in crypto, luxury cars, and real estate. Ryuk is an earlier strain tied to the Conti/Trickbot syndicate, and this arrest removed a key operator from that organization.
