U.S. prosecutors have charged 16 individuals linked to the DanaBot malware botnet, which was used in financial fraud schemes and to deliver ransomware, and is believed to have infected more than 300,000 computers globally, causing over $50 million in losses. Although none of the primary suspects, all based in Russia, were taken into custody, U.S. authorities and international partners seized numerous DanaBot command-and-control servers as part of the takedown operation.
