U.S. prosecutors have unsealed an indictment charging Rami Khaled Ahmed (known online as “Black Kingdom”) with deploying the Black Kingdom ransomware against roughly 1,500 systems between 2021 and 2023. Ahmed, believed to be located in Yemen, allegedly exploited a Microsoft Exchange vulnerability to infiltrate victims’ networks and demanded about $10,000 in Bitcoin from each. He is accused of conspiracy and causing damage to protected computers.
