Mattia Sguazzini is a 2026-2027 European Cybersecurity Fellow and a Research Fellow at the University of Genoa. He was previously a Visiting Research Fellow at the Centre for Security, Diplomacy and Strategy (CSDS) at the Brussels School of Governance of the Vrije Universiteit Brussel (VUB), and is currently an Adjunct Lecturer at Sciences Po’s Menton campus and the University of Pavia. He holds a PhD in Security and Strategic Studies within the interdisciplinary doctoral programme in Security, Risk and Vulnerability at the University of Genoa, where his dissertation examined the cybersecurity policy design space of EU member states. His research sits at the intersection of cybersecurity governance, digital sovereignty, and the political economy of security in Europe. He has a strong methodological interest in text-as-data approaches in the social sciences, particularly in the fine-tuning and use of large language models for policy analysis.
