We are excited to launch the AI-Cybersecurity Research and Policy Hub, a new network supporting researchers, policy experts, and practitioners in building their skills, collaborating on projects related to AI and cybersecurity, and contributing to impactful, real-world policy and practice.

Learn more about the Hub here.

Why we created the Hub

The relationship between AI and cybersecurity is complex, dynamic and multi-directional. AI is transforming offensive and defensive cybersecurity capabilities, while cybersecurity risks and infrastructures are increasingly influencing how AI systems are developed, deployed and managed. At the same time, AI and cybersecurity each raise key policy challenges of their own. Understanding these interrelated issues is essential to advancing both technical innovation and responsible governance.

While many policy experts take an active interest in AI and cybersecurity as distinct fields, far fewer focus on their intersection – a space that is increasingly critical but underexplored. In addition, there is often limited visibility of ongoing research, emerging priorities and how academic knowledge can be translated into concrete decisions by government, industry and civil society. The AI-Cybersecurity Research and Policy Hub was created to fill these gaps, fostering collaboration, improving knowledge exchange and ensuring that research has real impact for AI and cyber policy developments.

The Hub is a multidisciplinary network that supports researchers, policy experts and practitioners. It provides a space not only for community engagement and events, but also for deeper collaboration on research projects, policy development and skill-building activities.

By connecting experts in AI and cybersecurity, the Hub seeks to deepen understanding of these fields – not only as distinct domains, but also as interdependent forces and as a rapidly emerging common frontier. Our mission is to support impactful, evidence-based contributions that inform policy, guide practice and shape research agendas in this rapidly evolving landscape.

Scope and topics

The AI-Cybersecurity Research and Policy Hub focuses on the evolving relationship between AI and cyber – not only how AI is transforming the cyber threat landscape, but also how cybersecurity challenges are shaping the development and deployment of AI systems. While the intersection of AI and cybersecurity remains at the heart of its focus, the Hub also addresses AI and cyber as distinct policy and research areas.

The Hub approaches these issues across multiple levels. At the technical level, we examine how AI systems are used in offensive and defensive cyber operations, as well as how they can be targeted or secured. At the policy and governance level, we explore regulatory frameworks, legal implications, and institutional responses – especially within the EU context. And at the strategic level, we assess the broader impact of AI and cybersecurity on national security, conflict dynamics, and international stability.

Activities

The Hub will focus on a variety of activities which will include:

  • Talks & events: panels, book discussions and fireside chats with leading voices in AI and cyber security, designed to share insights and spark debate.
  • Skill-building & training: practical workshops and bootcamps to develop technical and policy skills across experts and practitioners.
  • Community building & networking: informal gatherings to connect researchers, policymakers and practitioners across disciplines and regions.
  • Research & agenda-setting: collaborative work to define priorities, analyse current gaps and shape future research.
  • Publications & media: impactful and accessible outputs to translate research for wider audiences (including publications, articles, podcasts, etc.)

Become a member

If you are interested in becoming part of the Hub, we invite you to register your interest using this form.

Membership is free of charge, and members will be added to our mailing list to receive updates on events, news, and other relevant opportunities within the AI and cybersecurity community.

Please note that submitting a registration does not guarantee participation. All expressions of interest will be reviewed, and we reserve the right to select participants based on relevance, capacity, and alignment with the Hub’s objectives.
