The war in Ukraine has highlighted the central role of drones in armed conflict, with their widespread use for reconnaissance, targeting and strike missions leading many observers to describe it as a “drone war”. Often presented as a decisive technological shift, these systems also introduce new cyber dependencies, attack surfaces and risks of miscalculation.
This event will examine exactly how and where AI is altering drone warfare. Experts will assess how AI is being integrated into military and quasi-military drone systems, alongside the cyber vulnerabilities that accompany them, including for example sensor spoofing, data poisoning, communications interception or model manipulation.
