Sina Gholinejad, a 37-year-old Iranian national, pled guilty on May 27, 2025, to conspiring in the RobbinHood ransomware attacks that hit several U.S. municipalities. Prosecutors say he and his partners breached networks belonging to cities and hospitals (including Greenville, NC, and Baltimore, MD) causing roughly $19 million in damage in Baltimore’s 2019 incident alone. Gholinejad faces a potential 30-year sentence. The FBI and DOJ noted that international evidence-sharing played a key role in advancing the case.
