Virtual Routes’ new role
The Google.org Cybersecurity Seminars program has been successfully implemented in higher education institutions across Europe, Africa, and the Middle East, and is now being launched in the Netherlands under the leadership of Virtual Routes. This marks the first time Virtual Routes will implement the program, after supporting its successful deployment in higher education institutions elsewhere through guidance, educational resources, and network coordination.
Ransomware focus
Over the past five years, the Netherlands has been frequently targeted by ransomware attacks, with high-profile incidents affecting key sectors. The ripple effects of these incidents extended beyond the immediate victims, impacting supply chains, public services, and trust in digital infrastructure. However, many local organizations still lack the basic security measures to protect themselves. They don’t always have the resources to bring in experts for recovery or to manage negotiations with cybercriminals. This program is designed to give students the skills to help these organizations better protect themselves.
Online foundations
The Foundations of Cybersecurity and AI course offers a live, twelve-week introduction to the key ideas, actors, and challenges at the intersection of cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. It explores how these two fields increasingly shape one another – from the potential use of AI tools in cyber operations to the security implications of large-scale AI systems. This selective course is taught by leading experts from academia, government, and industry. It combines rigorous academic foundations with real-world insight.
RANSOMWARE DEFENCE SUMMER BOOTCAMP
The Ransomware Defence Summer Bootcamp is a two-week intensive program for 100 graduate students from around the world. The program is free of charge and designed to provide students with the technical, analytical, and policy skills needed to understand ransomware and help organizations better protect themselves against ransomware threats.
Through a mix of lectures, workshops, and hands-on projects, participants will learn how to detect, respond to, and mitigate ransomware attacks — and how to communicate effectively with affected organizations.
