In October 2025, a U.S. grand jury charged three former cybersecurity professionals (two once employed as negotiators at DigitalMint and a former incident responder at Sygnia) with operating as affiliates of the BlackCat/ALPHV ransomware group. Prosecutors say they broke into multiple U.S. companies in 2023, exfiltrated data, and deployed BlackCat ransomware, issuing demands as high as $10 million. One victim reportedly paid about $1.27 million. One defendant had already been in custody since 2023, underscoring law enforcement’s focus on insider-enabled cybercrime.
