In May 2022, detectives from the Irish Garda National Cyber Crime Bureau arrested 40 year old Suleman Mazhar. FBI officers were also present in Cork during the operation, reflecting the international dimension to his crimes. In 2021, the bureau began an investigation into Mazhar, who was living at an address at Douglas in Cork, at the time. Detectives discovered he was selling through a website false bank accounts and credit cards, as well as offering malware and ransomware designed to disrupt and damage IT systems
